General project objective
The main objective of the project is to develop an effective and safe local treatment for lesions of the cervix associated with an HPV infection.
This project is the result of the identification of a medical need and the opportunity to meet this need with two molecules delivered using the most appropriate method.
In this context, the specific objectives of the Colvir project are:
• to obtain minimal clinical evidence of the effectiveness and innocuousness of a local treatment using Cidofovir (a synthetic antiviral molecule) or GM-CSF (an immuno-modulating cytokine);
• to develop adequate formulations of GM-CSF and Cidofovir for topical application.
Budget and financing
The total research budget committed by all the partners over the total duration of the project is €5.6 million.
Conformity with the BioWin Health Cluster’s strategy
This project is completely in line with the criteria defined for Biowin:
1. the field of cancer,
2. research and development,
3. clinical and pre-clinical activities,
4. and the creation of development and commercialisation structures.
Number of people involved and jobs created
The project involves 43 people, among whom the equivalent of 12 full time employees will be financed by the project. Profiles of the researchers: mainly a PhD or first degree in science, laboratory technicians or hospital personnel.
