BioWin was set up on 19 July 2006 as a not-for-profit association (an ASBL - consult the bylaws). The governance of the cluster is entrusted to a Governance Board (composed of 4 representatives of SMEs, 4 representatives of large companies, 3 representatives of university academies and 1 university representative and 2 representatives of the Walloon government), assisted by a Permanent Operational Unit, which can count on the support of Task Forces to prepare actions related to the cluster’s strategic development priorities.
Once a year, BioWin convenes a General Assembly of its members which is composed of representatives of all the cluster’s stakeholders. The Governance Board’s strategic decisions are adopted on the basis of the opinions of the members of an International Strategic Support Committee In addition, ad hoc panels of international experts jury are set up for the selection of projects submitted in response to calls for proposals.
