Regional networking

One of BioWin’s key tasks is to promote networking between the various Walloon stakeholders in the health and biotechnology sector. Throughout the year the cluster organises various activities to promote exchanges between the various stakeholders. BioWin’s operational unit also supports this networking by bringing together companies, university research units and research centres that may be interested in collaborating within the framework of innovative projects.

Inter-regional and international networking

BioWin’s remit also involves promoting the internationalisation of the cluster and its members, in particular SMEs. That is why the BioWin cluster has ongoing contacts with foreign health clusters as well as with Flemish and Brussels-based biotech organisations. The aim is to raise awareness of the expertise of Walloon operators in their areas of activity and to ensure that they are well placed to take advantage of partnership and/or business opportunities.

In this context, various types of partnership exist:
- collaborative partnerships, as is the case with the French competitiveness cluster Lyonbiopôle with which BioWin is developing a joint scientific programme;
- European connections, that is to say special relations with other health/biotech clusters in Europe, such as Medicon Valley Alliance, EuraSanté, Orphème, FlandersBio, Biotech in Brussels, Bio-M (Munich), etc.
- international connections with Montreal InVivo, Kobe Biomedical Cluster (Japan), Texas A&M
- European networks: BioWin is a member of the Council of European BioRegions (CEBR) and of European Regions Research & Innovation Network (ERRIN).
