BioWin Governance Board

The Governance Board is the competitiveness cluster’s decision-making and strategic body.


Main responsibilities

  • to ensure the implementation of the cluster’s strategic guidelines determined in the initial project and to fine-tune them if necessary;
  • to selecting and approve cooperation projects, on the basis of the opinions of ad hoc experts, chosen on a consensual basis by the Governance Board;
  • to determine best intellectual property practices;
  • to monitor the implementation of projects and their development and to reorient or terminate projects which have serious implementation shortcomings;
  • to assess the cluster in accordance with criteria determined by it in cooperation with the public authorities;
  • to promote the cluster at national and international levels.


Composition

The Governance Board is composed of representatives of both SMEs and large companies, the scientific community and government observers.
Its composition is as follows:

  • Pierre Léonard (representative of Minister Jean-Claude Marcourt – Walloon Government)
  • Pierre Villers (representative of the Walloon research administration DG06)

The Board is chaired by Jean Stéphenne and Jean-Luc Balligand (UCL) is its Vice-Chairman.
