The Governance Board is the competitiveness cluster’s decision-making and strategic body.
Its main responsibilities are:
- to ensure the implementation of the cluster’s strategic guidelines determined in the initial project and to fine-tune them if necessary;
- to selecting and approve cooperation projects, on the basis of the opinions of ad hoc experts, chosen on a consensual basis by the Governance Board;
- to determine best intellectual property practices;
- to monitor the implementation of projects and their development and to reorient or terminate projects which have serious implementation shortcomings;
- to assess the cluster in accordance with criteria determined by it in cooperation with the public authorities;
- to promote the cluster at national and international levels.
Composition:
The Governance Board is composed of representatives of both SMEs and large companies, the scientific community and government observers.
Its composition is as follows:
4 large companies:

- Philipe Cronet (Eurogentec)
- Yves Jongen (IBA)
4 SMEs:
- Jean Combalbert (Euroscreen)
- Hugues Bultot (Kytozime)
- Thierry Leclipteux (Coris BioConcept)
- Jean-Pol Detiffe (DNA Vision)
3 university academies and 1 university of the French Community:
- Dominique Demonté (IMI – ULB)
- Jean-Luc Balligand (UCL)
- Jacques Boniver (GIGA Recherche – ULg)
- Martine Raes (Facultés Notre-Dame de la Paix à Namur)
2 representatives of the Walloon government:
- Pierre Léonard (Cabinet du Ministre de l'Economie Mr J.C. Marcourt)
- Pierre Villers (Inspecteur général à la DGTRE)
The Board is chaired by Jean Stéphenne and Jean-Luc Balligand (UCL) is its Vice-Chairman.
