IonCath, a new R&D project

New medical device project

BioWin’s collaborative R&D projects now include IonCath, a project to develop a new intravascular balloon catheter. This device aims to use iontophoresis for the very localized release of an active substance to treat patients with arterial stenosis in the legs.

Nexeon MedSystems Belgium, the project’s coordinator, has called upon the expertise of MediLine, the CER Group, the Louvain Drug Research Institute and the Bio & Soft Matter laboratory at Louvain Catholic University, and the Liège University Hospital Cardiology Unit. The project has a budget of €3.47 million and will last four years.
