Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) are rapidly transforming healthcare, moving from scientific promise to industrial reality. Co-Developed by BioWin and Deloitte, this strategic teaser outlines Belgium’s strengths, challenges, and identifies the key priorities that could shape the country’s position in advanced therapies over the coming decade.
The document highlights Belgium’s distinctive assets, world-class clinical expertise, regulatory know-how, specialised manufacturing capabilities, and a highly connected ecosystem, while acknowledging the need for greater coordination, targeted investment, and a clearer international positioning.
It also identifies four priority arenas where Belgium has the strongest potential to become Europe’s preferred launchpad for ATMP innovation: cell therapies in oncology and haematology, gene therapies for rare diseases and paediatrics, specialised manufacturing and logistics, and the translation of academic breakthroughs into scalable industrial development.
