Wallonia, leading the future of nuclear medicine: read the full study
Nuclear medicine, a specialised field that leverages radioactive substances (radiopharmaceuticals) for diagnostics and therapy, is a growing strength in Wallonia, supported by isotope production, dedicated equipment, theranostics, radioligand therapy (RLT), and a solid network of research centers, hospitals, companies, and logistics. In collaboration with PwC, BioWin has conducted a study assessing the full value chain -from raw material supply to clinical applications and commercialization. Based on 13 expert interviews and 21 survey responses, it highlights a sector with 2,600 direct jobs (including ~350 clinicians) and 5,000 indirect jobs in Belgium, and through a SWOT analysis outlines Wallonia’s global positioning, opportunities, and challenges for future growth and innovation.
